More Frequently Asked Questions Part One
When we're tattooing clients, responding to DM's on social media or emails, and talking to people in general, we often find many common questions about tattoos, art, our studio, our policies, and much more. We've started this More Frequently Asked Questions blog series to regularly update you with new info, answer your questions, and follow up on those common things we throw at us.
If you've got any questions you want us to cover, please ask away!
Can I call the Smoke & Mirrors Tattoo Co. phone number?
We work on different days and times without a fixed schedule as a collective of individual artists. When we're in the studio, we're often busy tattooing and cannot hygienically answer the phone (gloves, ink, and a phone aren't a good combo!), so we do not have a phone you can call. However, we encourage you to contact our artists via their preferred method with any inquiries, and they'll get back to you ASAP.
How old do I have to be to get tattooed in Brisbane?
In Brisbane and Australia in general, you must be at least 18 years old to get a tattoo. It is illegal for any of our artists to tattoo someone under the age of 18, and we cannot tattoo you if you cannot provide proof of age.
Can I get drunk before my tattoo?
It is illegal to tattoo someone who is intoxicated by drugs, alcohol, or a combination of both. If you arrive at your tattoo appointment intoxicated, we will be forced to reschedule you to another day, which may mean losing your deposit.
What are job-stopper tattoos?
If you've ever heard someone refer to a tattoo as a 'job stopper' and wondered what it is precisely, we've got you covered.
Job stoppers are tattoos on the face, neck, or hands. They're called job stoppers because they'll make finding employment a lot more challenging, and you may be judged by employers, colleagues, or the general public. Attitudes towards tattoos on the face, hands, and neck have definitely improved in recent years, but many still look down on people with these types of tattoos. Some may even assume job stoppers to be a signal of gang membership, prison time, or criminal activity.
What are the Smoke & Mirrors Tattoo Co. prices?
Each artist will set their own prices based on the size and intricacy of the tattoo they'll be inking into your skin. These prices may vary depending on colours used, placement, time taken to carry out the tattoo, whether it's custom or flash, and other reasons.
When artists at Smoke and Mirrors post flash tattoo sheets, we do our best to let you know the cost of each tattoo and its approximate size. However, for further pricing inquiries, don't hesitate to contact your desired artist, and they'll take it from there!
Where can I see Smoke & Mirrors Tattoo Co. photos of artists' work?
Great question! All artists post samples of their work on social media, including the Smoke & Mirrors Pinterest, which you can find here.
